We were given a 2% chance of him surviving and was told it would be unlikely he would survive the transfer to a specialist neonatal unit. He was transferred to Queen Charlottes Neonatal Unit where he held his own and amazed the doctors. He was known as "little man" as despite being born weighing only 2lb he was a very active baby. He would wriggle and knock out the tubes and cry if he was put on his right side as he liked being on his left. He would hold your finger and look at you with his lovely Bright eyes. He was a real fighter and inspiration to me and his daddy. He fought very hard and went from 80% oxygen to only 20% and was trying to breath for himself. The doctors were amazed by this spirited little man Rhys. However as hard as he fought fate took a turn for the worse and he passed away only 4 days old. I would not change the time we had with him for anything he fought so hard and me and his daddy couldn't be any prouder of our son. The staff at Ealing Hospital and Queen Charlottes were amazing and I would like to raise money for BLISS in memory of my son who would not have survived the 4 wonderful days we had with him had it not been for the knowledge they gain through research. In the future maybe more breakthroughs will be made to help more premature babies survive. Please give any small ammount you can it really will make a difference and will make my little angel smile. Thankyou from Rhys and his Mummy and daddy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
